Bennet Valley, Sonoma, 87% Syrah, 12% Grenache, 1% Viognier
This is a vertical case straight from their library. 3 each of the '13/'14/'15/'16.
I was shocked at how good these wines were. Instantly reminds me of cult Syrah that I sell plenty of. Do the initials SQN mean anything to you? (you're in that neighborhood) It's also reminiscent of Cote Rotie with the roasted meat, smoke and bacon fat soaring from the glass. Geometry is quite under the radar. I had not heard of them, but was familiar with the Moaveni Vineyard where they source the fruit for this. I own some
2013 Beven Cellars Moaveni that Robert Parker rated 99/100 (sells for $175).
All from the cool Bennet Valley AVA in Sonoma, planted on Alban clones.
Weapons grade juice!
The farther back you go on the vertical below, the better they get.
Give them 2 hours in a decanter and hold on to your knickers!
